Last year I searched all summer for an outdoor speaker system for our pool. My criteria seemed fairly simple as follows:
-Speakers needed to be hard wired so I didn’t have to bring them inside to charge them
-Sounds quality needed to be solid
-I didn’t need AM/FM, CD, etc.
-I didn’t want Bluetooth (distance concerns), but instead wanted to be able to control the sound from my wireless network so I could seamlessly play music from Pandora, Prime Music, Spotify, etc.
After searching all last summer for a system that met my needs, I had pretty much given up.
This spring, my wife messaged me a link to a Sonance system. While this system wasn’t exactly what I was looking for (the speakers in the system she shared mounted on a deck/wall but I wanted in ground speakers instead), but reading more about the Sonance line of products gave me a sense of hope. Then, I stumbled upon the MAG Series 6.1 system and became intrigued.
After reading about the system, I became increasingly excited. The system was on sale at BBY (apparently this is a BBY, Sonos and Sonance exclusive system) and after a ton of research, I bit the bullet and ordered.
Reading the reviews, I knew I was going to have to be the speaker wire and decided to buy 100 ft of 14/4 buried cable on Amazon at the same time I made the purchase.
Both the speaker wire and sounds system arrived on the same day. It was the middle of the week and I didn’t have the time nor energy to install it, but hooked up two of the satellites and the base to the AMP, installed the Sonos app, and immediately knew I made the right choice. The sound quality was absolutely amazing! My wife and I sat in our kitchen and listened to music on the system for probably 2 hours. I was jazzed!
On Saturday that same week, I began the process of getting the wires buried and getting everything installed. I knew it was going to be a bear, as my pool area has rock landscaping. I painfully pushed the rock back and dug a trench for laying the wire. I also channeled a small hole in my walk out basement siding to chase the wire in to connect to the AMP. While it took longer than I thought it would, I knew it would be worth it.
When I was done, I had installed the 6 satellite speakers around my pool (all facing toward my house) and dug a hole and placed the sub in the middle and backfilled the rock.
When everything was done, I got the joy of listening to the result of this hard work. And, I can say with certainty, it was completely worth it.
The base is amazing. The dual channel satellites are crazy good (I run in dual stereo, but you can apparently run in single channel if you’d like). And the Sonos app rocks!
The neighbor kids that come down to swim now all have the Sonos app and can play what they want when they want. Also, I can turn the volume down from my phone if they get a bit crazy.
What’s even cooler is that the Sonos app also works with Alexa. So if I want to play something outside, turn the volume up or down, all I need to do is ask Alexa and it’s a done deal.
Net, net, at the time I made this purchase this system was on sale which convinced me to pull the trigger. And, while I did get a nice discount at the time of the sale, I wouldn’t hesitate knowing what I know now to pay the full price. This system rocks and is well worth every penny.

Recently purchased Sonance 6.1 Mag system and got it installed with the help of Geek Squad. The quality of sound is way better than I expected. I do have whole house Sonos audio setup with multiple Arc beam gen 2, subs and Era 300s all throughout my house and I feel the bass on this system blows the rest out of the water. All guest who have heard it think I got concert speakers installed. Worth every penny.

To be able to have music and sound from my TV around the entire pool deck is sweet! Installing takes time, but not difficult. Sound quality is perfect. You don’t have to blast it to feel satisfied.
Music and television sound work well together. I don’t have any issues switching between both. The arc option is ideal. My Samsung connects nice and easy. The Sonos app guides you through the connection process.
I have my amp outside my pool house. Altelix sells specialty insulated boxes for the amp. See it in my pictures. It’s sealed with a fan to keep it at temperature. I got my box off EBay.
Go ahead and treat yourself. This system has been a great addition to our outdoor space.

Blown away by the quality of this system. We put the speakers around our pool and it sounds like we’re at a concert. Blends in nicely with the landscaping. We have to show people where the speakers are just because they are expecting huge speakers pumping out all that sound, they are shocked when they notice how small they are and how they blend in with the landscaping. Easy install, incredible sound, would recommend to anyone looking for outdoor sound!!!

This was the perfect setup for patio around the pool. watching you tube videos all winter gave me the confidence to install in one day, no hassles. The sound is great you really can hear the right/left channels. Defiantly worth the sale price. I have this coupled with the Sonos 2.1 rock for around the Hot tub. Very satisfied !

I purchased 1 set for my backyard and installed them in short order. Overall performance was better than expected. I have used Rock speakers of all kinds and these are far the best I have heard. Originally I thought I needed to move up to the landscape series but I am very please with these so much so I purchased 3 more sets for my backyard. Currently I have 4 subwoofer’s and 24 speakers running in my backyard. My neighbors came over and they were so impressed that they each purchased 2 sets. I tend to be very picky about my audio and typically only buy high end gear, but for the value these can’t be beat (when on sale).
