5 stars for the pre-amp + 1 star for best buy = 3
Let me start by saying it’s a great sounding pre-amp, but it’s achilles’ heel is it’s DAC.
I received a used item, it had the protective strips already removed from the front sides, had some signs of wear/scratches on the top front corners, and was missing cables— a pc-usb cable, rca cable, ethernet cable.
I contacted support informing them, asking for an exchange for a brand new unit, but the the chat support agent dismissed my observations stating I was sent a brand new unit, but well if it was all brand new and in an unopened box then it would have all the items included out the factory unless Rotel dropped the QC ball.
It looked very much like an open box unit, and yet I paid full price for this. I asked that I return for an exchange and I was given the runaround, telling me it would take more than 10 days to get another unit, blah blah blah.

Wow! I habe been a long-time Rotel fan of all the seperate coloemte for the last 20 yes. Ive always knew their power amps were always their niche product that that was fsr supperior in all categoriee bs the competiton. But the last few preamplifier models they habe built for us has been has been getting closer to near perfect. The 1572k2 sounds very similar to the rc-1570 both pretty neutral and detailed but it may just be my ears the mk2 sounds louder. I gave my usual 65db comfortable and music seemed to be just “louder” and the sub spl just was deeper -is the best way to describe the difference. And bot to take away from the 1570 bc it too I was kind of baddass. But there maybe some placebo effect bc i have been waiting awhile to save up for her. But I am extremely and only was is the display like all audio displays is too small. I use it both a a true preamp and also i tried out its DAC connect to imac mini m1 and was too thrilled. Now to come off as a brat i am bleseed to already own the Eversolo Z8 which is a king of a standalone dav so we moved to keep the eversolo paired with it and i am extremely pleased, So if you happened to be a components enthusiast like myself given its price point i believe its worth it. but suggest to all preamp manufacturers to get rid of the whole DAC combo bc a great dac like an eversolo is priceless.
