Love the soundbar, first Dolby Atmos for me. Has only been a couple weeks but so far everything sounds fantastic! You will def feel explosions in movies, the 8″ sub sounds great! When music mode is turned on and you are streaming music from Tidal…wow sound is phenomenal!
I can say the soundbar is loud! Haven’t even come close to 100% volume my neighbors would definitely complain. For real it’s LOUD!
I got the soundbar on sale for $460. Replaced my Onkyo receiver and 3.1 Klipsch bookshelf/center channel speakers I was using (love Klipsch). The receiver was causing freezing issues with my newer TCL tv so I replaced with this soundbar and issues with tv are gone. Great decision. Way less cables then receiver/speakers and the soundar sounds just as good, if not better.

Compared to last couple of generations of soundbars they’ve done, LG this year has decided to step their game up with their soundbars and actually deliver something totally worthwhile. I come from my last soundbar the Vizio M51ax-J6 and the moment I first played around with the LG S80QY, this soundbar destroys the Vizio in literally every way! The sound quality was just impressive overall and honestly only keeps getting better everytime I turned this bar on, the subwoofer puts out deep, rich bass, the soundstage is powerful, and the Atmos/DTS:X performance is surprisingly decent for what it is. Pairing the S80QY with the optional SPQ8-S speaker kit just elevates the overall experience to another level, delivering strong surround sound performance and pairs instantly with the bar, as of this writing, I haven’t experienced any cutouts whatsoever. Also, the LG S80QY pairs very well with my LG C1 TV too, they function together a lot better than the Vizio M51ax-J6 ever did, everything just works for the most part, such a great relief. Lastly, my experience with the S80QY had a rocky start, but since then it’s all been very good. The first unit I had was kinda faulty as for some reason I was given a demo model and not the full product as the soundbar would keep going into demo mode no matter what, so the next day I went up there to Best Buy in person, exchanged for another unit, and since then no more problems, I got the fully operational unit now. In conclusion, the LG S80QY is surprisingly a great soundbar overall, better than the SP8YA from last year and the SN8YG from the year before last, it’s safe to say LG has definitely improved themselves this year, I bet the higher models S90QY and S95QR are even better than this. S80QY comes highly recommended, I don’t regret my purchase one bit.

It is relatively easy to set up and connect. It took awhile to tell which was was up and out. The print on it is all over the place in different directions. If I mounted it correctly the LED Screen faces the florr. So I cant tell if it’s in unless I bend down and look under it, without the app. It would be nice if it had better pictures. So I could see how the finished mountings would look and where out sub or which way to face it. It sounds good all over the house. I connect to it in the morning from my bed room to get me going. One last thing. Why can LG have one master all to control all it tv, sound bar and sound systems? Or make it fully integrated with google home. I hate having an different apps for the same maker and that work together. I was going to go with Bose or Sonos but didn’t want to have multiple apps but I guess that’s didn’t matter.

The sound has been amazing especially with added dual speakers which I added to my entertainment system space. Easy setup. Works well with LG tv.
