This was my 3rd soundbar and I must say it does live up to the hype. Now as a frugal minded person, I tend to err on the cheaper end of things, but it’s products like these that make the price tag make sense. Nonetheless there are a few cons to consider with the Dali:
There are really only two sound modes — bass and no bass . That’s not a huge problem at all, but an in between option or slide would be great. The first option is more basic and accents the vocals of recordings. The 2nd sound is a bit more boxy so if you need more soundstage or deeper music, this is better.
Overall, the Dali significantly more accurate than a lot of the compressed sound, bass heavy sound bars I’ve tried (both with or without subs) which was very impressive. Not to mention the overall design is totally sleek, clean, modern, yet subtle. Again, the price point is steep, but you will absolutely hear the difference. The Dali Katch One is a total winner.

This sound bar sounds pretty good. I love listening to music while I clean, so I stream via phone Bluetooth. The bass is most important to me, and it doesn’t disappoint. I have it connected in my bedroom. Sound bars just don’t work for me in my apartment living room because the space is too open. In the closed space of my bedroom, it shines. I have watched movies on it and I can feel and hear the crackle of thunder!! I do recommend.

Summary:
This product is one of the “wow” products that shocks me how good it is. I only have one single hiccup in the review which once figured out solved all my issues. It works great, sounds amazing and looks cool in any room!
Pros:
• Style
• Sound quality
• Size
• Build quality
• Ease of use
• APT-X support
Cons:
• No included screws
• Requires PCM to work with HDMI (more in review)
Unboxing:
The box is fitted well to the device and includes essentials. The speaker, wooden stand pegs, wall mounting hardware (minus screws), remote with batteries and instructions.
Setup and use:
I first tested it with my phone (Android S21 Ultra so I could test bluetooth APT-X support). After plugging it in, putting batteries in the remote and pairing it with my phone, it was ready to go. I played “A Letter To Ashley” by Your Broken Hero and the Piano sounded crisp with great range across the board conveying all the good Emo vibes. I played with the wide and narrow sound settings which have their use cases. Wide sounds AMAZING for music and movies. Narrow is great for spoken word. Playing some EDM and classical I was impressed by the crispness and ability to fill a room. Vocals were clear, details were pronounced, and bass was above average (not room shaking).
My initial setup was in a computer nook, so it was somewhat far from a wall which is not ideal as most of the bass relies on the rear fired woofers to use the wall to amplify the sound. Even in this setup, it sounded good, just not amazing on the low end.
I then took it upstairs to use with my bedroom TV. I placed it closer to the wall and plugged it in via HDMI ARC. I did not get any sound. To see if the issue was the cable, I swapped it out to no avail. I then tried to use an optical cable with the same results. After digging into my TV settings, I changed “compressed audio” to “PCM” and it worked. So if you are expecting any compressed formats, Dolby, DTS or any other formats, you might have some issues depending on your TV. PCM worked great though so I switched back to HDMI and all was well.
Playing some movies on Netflix was outstanding as well. Action movies had wide stereo with room filling sound. Documentaries were better in the narrow mode with more emphasis on voice.
I have yet to wall mount the device on the wall as I need to get some anchors to better support the device as it weighs 8 lbs and I am in a rental unit, but you can mount it two ways; with a large nail hanging directly to the back of the unit or with the included leather straps which work with a smaller nail and looks very classy. For now, I am using the wooden pegs in the base of the unit which also look nice and are easily removable.
Documentation:
The device comes with a quick start guide which is mostly pictures of what needs to be done. If you lose it it can also be downloaded at their website. The guide better explains what each input symbol means as they use symbols more than words on the unit to label connections. The remote is clearly explained as well. Of most value is the mounting instructions which tells you what size scores you should use and how much clearance you would need for each option. It also explains options for routing cables if using wall mounted to better hide the cable.
It is overall a useful quick set-up guide but nothing extraordinary. I would like to see a specifications page as well so I could better understand the product upon opening.

With my upstairs audiophile grade setup I always equated soundbars with those “home theater in a box” products.
So, initially I thought to myself with a smirk “Yeah right, a sound-bar that will pass the ear test”.
The Dali Katch One QUICKLY removed the smirk from my face.
Before we get into the nitty gritty, I love options. I love connection options, sound options, placement options. The Dali pretty much, except for one passes all of these tests.
The majority of this review was performed using the Dali connected via HDMI ARC to my wall mounted TV. However, Optical (TV, and aud), Aux and Bluetooth are also available. See? There’s one of the options checked off already!
I seemed to get ahead of myself there. The aesthetics of the Dali can be summed up as: simply elegant but unassuming. The white on white (grill, nice touch!) fits in with pretty much every decor. More so than the usual black/black bars that are in abundance.
Dali also gives you options when it comes to placement. You can either mount directly to the wall with a leather strap type hanger. Or, you can mount the included “feet” to use as a free standing soundbar. Another option checked off!
I went with the foot mount, and the process was very simple.
Now, onto the sound. It’s obvious what Dali had in mind. They wanted to offer great sound without a million options to achieve it — uh-oh (sort of!).
There are basically two sound modes. One, and Two. One (Focus) being tuned more for movies and dialogue, and Two (Wide) being more for music.
I tested mode one with a 4K Blu-Ray Disk of a recent production. Dialogue was crisp, and clear without being shrill. Not lost on me though, was a degree of “atmosphere” still present even in the more focused, dialogue driven mode. Surprisingly, explosions (sorry neighbors) were very life like due to the 4 woofers present.
While watching I kept grabbing for the remote to tweak the sound (which you can’t do). The remote is fairly simple with input selections being the predominant use.
I tested Mode two with a Blu-ray hi-res copy of a release from a certain band known for an album depicting a prism (not mentioned due to possible copyright).
This mode definitely opened up the sound quite considerably. Highs again were crisp but not shrill, lows a bit more “boomy”. But the atmosphere to this reviewer seemed to allow ample space for each instrument without the sound being cluttered. To me, this is a major MAJOR plus. ESPECIALLY for a sound-bar. In fact, I’ve never experienced a soundbar that would reproduce music in the manner that the Dali does. So giant kudos to Dali for this achievement!
Bluetooth was very simple to pair with my smart phone. It appears aptx and AAC are supported. It also quickly paired to my laptop and desktop via Bluetooth. I love the ability to just leisurely play tunes while I’m downstairs. Or stream online content sound.
Before ending this review I must mention:
Me being a sound nerd who loves a million options to tweak should certainly not be reason for one to be put off from the Katch One. I am extremely OCD when it comes to sound and I like to personalize/tweak every aspect of the sound-field. I would imagine that my level of “sound OCD” (as my wife calls it) puts me at the .001% of the marketplace. If you are like me, you can utilize this great soundbar in your non-dedicated sound room.
Or, if you are like the almost 100% of the rest of the population, the Dali Katch One is THE leading soundbar on the market in my opinion. In both aesthetics and functionality. With that said, get it! You can’t go wrong!

The Dali Katch One is a wonderful sounding, and elegantly styled, sound bar. It has all the connection options you would need and is fairly straightforward to set up.
I opted to have the sound bar sitting on our mantle just below our wall mounted 65″ TV. The included wooden legs are a nice touch for this, or you could go with the leather straps for the wall mounted configuration. The white looks very nice and it blends in with our décor quite well. I am using an HDMI cable to connect this for audio from the television, but an optical cable would work well also. Installing the wooden legs took no tools as all you have to do is push them in. Other than that, just plugged it into the wall and was ready to go.
First thing I did was test out music played via Bluetooth from my iPhone. Sounded very nice! I Played country, rock, metal, jazz and some electronic music and the Dali Katch One performed very well. The vocals were clear, no distortion at high volumes (and it gets loud) and punchy bass. It was really a pleasure listening to music through this sound bar.
Next thing I tried was playing the THX sound via the YouTube app on my TV and that was fun. Much bigger sound than I had imagined coming from a sound bar. After messing around with that, I watched various television programs on cable and Netflix and the results were great. Very clear dialogue and big sound when the movie called for it.
After my initial testing, I connected my powered 12″ subwoofer via the Sub Out and it works perfectly!
This sound bar comes with a remote which works just fine. You can select you input, change volume and toggle the sound modes. There are only 2 sound modes, however, so if you are looking for greater customization of the sound profile you may not like this. I personally don’t mind having just the 2 modes. Keeps it simple.
Overall, this sound bar has been a delight to have in our house. It is built very well, sounds amazing and is easy to set up. If you are looking for a sound bar that is versatile and sounds great you wont be disappointed with the Dali Katch One.
