I ordered this yesterday Thurs 6/24/2021 around 5-6 pm and it arrived around 2 pm today Frid 6/25/2021. Did not pay extra for next day delivery, it was included.
Took my time setting everything up. Accessed Easy setup once speakers were connected and receiver was powered on. Went to source HDMI ARC and easily calibrated speakers with the included ‘mic.’ Chose source TV, then went to YouTube on my PC and played ‘American Trilogy,” and a word I rarely use came out of my mouth – AWESOME! Beautiful full sound with nice base tones.
The receiver I replaced was an almost 30 year old Yamaha that still worked fine but I knew I wasn’t getting the full sound that today’s technology offers, plus it was silver and stood out behind the glass in my entertainment center. The black is barely visible but for the small power light and source indicator. Everything I wanted and was hoping for this thing is. I highly recommend this unit for anyone looking for a very nice upgrade with similar desires and expectations as I’ve indicated here. 😉

Purchased the 590 5 years ago in early 2018 (After it was released in late 2017)… Plugged it in and enjoyed it without any complaints… A few months ago in October (Now December of 2023) I thought that I would look for a 5.1 Receiver with bells and whistles Atmos. Not wanting any more speakers I found the brand new off the press Onkyo 5.2 receiver with Atmos for a 5.2 system like mine. I put my 590 in the Onkyo box (was going to put it in the guest house or storage), Plugged in the Onkyo with ATMOS and the sound was… Horribly tinny and thin. I played with the settings and the manual for 2 days on the 2023 Onkyo without the least success for improved sound on the Onkyo. I realized I had been spoiled by the 590 for the last 5 years! When I realized that, I took the 590 out of the box, disconnected the NEW Onkyo, returned it, and reinstalled the 5 year old 590 after reinitializing it. Went through the initial set up on the 590 in 5 minutes, and started listening to it’s AWESOME, RICH Sound processed from Apple TV streamed movies and music. (Connect The Apple TV to the TV and let the ARC bring the movie and music sound tract to the 590 for processing and delivering to the speakers… Gives better video than passing through the 590). Only when SONY upgrades the 590 will I even try to replace this dulcet Mother of Very Groovy Sound 590!

This is a really nice receiver for the price. On my last theater receiver I had to manually power off the unit after use. This unit, if you used HDMI cables from all your input components (highly recommend) and to the tv. It will automatically turn the receiver On/Off with the TV. The audio menu is a little clunky to get through but easier through the remote control. The sound quality is really good. I use it to boost the sound of my TV in a large room, but it does so much more. A single button on the remote switches different inputs including Bluetooth sync to your tablet or phone. Still much to learn but happy with it so far.

I bought this Sony 5.2 channel receiver to replace a Pioneer 5.2 that was 5 years old and started popping and squealing through the speakers before it quit completely. I got this at black Friday price of $199.00 it has been great so far. Connects just the same sounds great with plenty of Power for my pioneer old school cs707 front speakers that have 16″ woofers a Polk center speaker Bose surround 601s in the rear and a 12″ klipsch powered sub. This is better than the pioneer, has more features and everything works as it should. The pioneer had issues with arc return sound not working all the time and didn’t have Bluetooth. So I am really satisfied to have my system running again for so little money would definitely recommend.

I wanted to upgrade my home theatre system. Looked around and decided on the Sony DH 590. I got it open box excellent and saved $75. This reciever is perfect for our medium size living room. Without breaking the bank. I also added a powered sub. This thing rocks. You can definetly spend more and get more options. But at this price point you can’t spend less and get more than this Sony.

Sony has always done well in electronics . No different in this case . Good connectivity , delivering good quality sound and bass with total750w each channel with an out put of 145 w. No issues with blue tooth connection like i had with Denon . I returned denon in store , and bought this with a better offer from best buy
Totally happy with it . Sony is always a reliable and trusted companyin electronics like toyota in auto -but still I dont know why media promoting Denon

I needed something more to power my Klipsch Chorus II speakers in my garage . Sounds great and crisp and easy set up. Sony is always good. Great product.

This receiver sounds amazing. Now watching movies just got a whole lot better, and music sounds full. The bluetooth is great cause I dont have to have my phone plugged into the auxiliary jack, and setup was so easy! Folks read the quick setup guide, and then refer to the owner’s manual to fine tune the settings to your liking. This was not just a birthday gift, but a replacement for my old Sony Receiver from 1986 that finally died.
