Great stand alone speaker with mic and guitar/line inputs. My only complaint is no audio out. I have bought LG XL7 to pair it with my old LG RK7 but because there is no audio out, I have to use it as a slave to older RK7. Even this connwctivity is challenging. I run RCA audio out from RK7 to guitar input of XL7. This requires 2RCA stereo to one mono 1/4″. It works great but it is not easy to switch back and forth. You can also feed BT input to both speakers but the latency difference between the two is a killer in small room. I am perplexed why audio out has been excluded which would make XL7 an ideal monitor for a Singer/guitar player joining a band in a large vanue. I realize that my needs are a little unusual but the target audience for this excellent speaker would be greatly enlarged with a low cost audio out. So, I am pleased enough with overall quality to leave the rating at 5*. Highly recommended for karaoke lovers or solo guitar players. I have not tested battery power yet.

Not only do I love this speaker but so does my autistic toddler. I’ll get more on to why later.
So this is a pretty big speaker, it’s quite heavy and very well built, this is a party speaker so be aware of that.
LG have done a couple of really good things to make this thing easily moved. I’ve had big speakers before that are cumbersome and just a pain to move around. LG decided to put wheels on this unit and also and extendable handle. It’s the same setup you would find in a similar sized suitcase and it’s extremely effective when maneuvering to where you want it. Genius idea by LG.
Build quality on this is solid. It’s made from a very dense plastic and just feels substantial. It feels like a quality product. It has the XBOOM name on the front and sides but it doesn’t look garish. Buttons are easily accessible on the top of the unit and have a pleasant feel to them.
You get app support from LG also which allows you to use preset sound profiles or select your own with an EQ. Also in the app it lets you control the lights on the speaker and the led display. You can even create your own design for the LED display which is great.
The lighting on this looks really good with no billed through, it can react to the music and this is where my toddler loves it, he loves to see the dancing graphics while he has me blast out the peaches song by jack black. It really is excellent.
Sound is also really good from this and very loud. With the EQ you. An make this sound however you like but it has great lows while not not slipping into the mids. The highs are also clear and present and it makes for an enjoyable listening experience
I love this speaker and so do my family. Battery is great, Bluetooth range is great, sound is great and so is the build quality.

I love speakers. Smart ones. Bluetooth ones. In this case, it’s only Bluetooth but that’s fine. I was provided this monster speaker to review at no out-of-pocket cost from Best Buy, like the other members of the Tech Insider Network.

It’s a monster and came in a monster box and the setup was near instant without any problems.
As I started to look through the App for what customizations were possible, I had a random playlist going – from 70s rock, to Hip-Hop, Reggae & Ska. Not bad, however I found it a bit muffled.
The ‘SOUND BOOST’ setting is better for larger spaces as the audio seems a bit muffled when up close; a quick fix to that is to go into the EQ, leave ‘SOUND BOOST’ and select ‘Custom’ and tune the values to be more clear for you.
You can’t make your own cartoon animations. Bummer. You can make word animations that bounce or scroll and alternate colors though. When making an animation, or editing one of your other ones, you have to move it into a ‘waiting area’ edit it, then add it back, then select it again. While not awful, it seems to add an unnecessary step (waiting area).
Then, I took it outside … and it couldn’t roll over the tiny rug in front of my door! The wheels just drove the rug into the anti-skid mat and I had to lift the speaker over it. Weird. Then, it went to the pool and across the pool from where I was sitting and it had plenty of volume even at 25%! I did crank up the volume up and it got loud and was clear, which is important to me. Very cool; sorry neighbors!
After about 4 hours of consistent use, some animations, colored woofer, strobe light and “Sound Boost” mode, I only lost about 20% of the battery – impressive for something that has that many blinking parts along with running Bluetooth for the music.
If you find yourself running low on battery, there’s a place to hold your power cable – a mesh pocket in the back – not a bad idea. A label says that the pocket is for the ‘cover’ that hides the connections (power, microphone, etc) – but it doesn’t come off, so maybe it’s just an oversight label.
Observations:
Animations can lag at times – never really found a pattern to the lag, but it happens. Far from a show stopper, but something I noticed.
The speaker can be stood up or rested on its side, however the animations don’t shift like your phone would, so everything is scrolling from the sky to the ground.
I didn’t get to test the Linked mode (2 of these monsters), but I can only imagine how loud two of these speakers can get.
Recommended? Yeah!

I loved it. Perfect for my living room for karoake and parties. I can move it anywhere I want without hassle. It has wheels and its waterproof too. I can attach 2 microphones so far.
